Objectives: This paper investigates the origin, the progressive changes and the constructive principles of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang (å¼Ì®ß¤ûý÷·).
Methods: Yangkyuksanhwa-tang and other related prescriptions were analyzed in terms of their pathological indications, based on previous literature including "Donguisusebowon Chobongwon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª õ®ÜâÏé)", "Donguisusebowon Gabobon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª Ë£çíÜâ)", "Donguisusebowon Sinchukbon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª ãôõäÜâ)" and "Dongmuyugo (ÔÔÙëë¶ÍÃ)".
Results & Conclusion : 1) The Yangkyuksanhwa-tang most likely originates from Sodokeum, Yangkyuksan, Baekho-tang and Indongdeung. 2) Sodoksanhwa-tang introduced in "Donguisusebowon Chobongwon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª õ®ÜâÏé)" progressively transformed into Chungyangsanghwa-tang ("Donguisusebowon Gabobon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª Ë£çíÜâ)") and ultimately into Yangkyuksanhwa-tang ("Donguisusebowon Sinchukbon (ÔÔì¢áøá¦ÜÁêª ãôõäÜâ)"), a prescription appropriate for usage in the Sangso symptomatology (ß¾á¼ñû). 3) Yangkyuksanhwa-tang is composed of 9 herbs. Of these, Schixonepetae herba(ûªËÎ), Ledebouriellae Radix(ÛÁù¦), Forsythiae fructus(ææÎî), Menthae Herba(ÚÝùÃ), Gardeniae fructus(ö¼í) scatter the Hwa-qi(ûýѨ), and Rehmanniae Radix(ßæò¢üÜ), Gypsum fibrosum(à´ÍÇ), Anemarrhenae(ò±Ù½) put off the Stomach-heat(êÖæð), whereas Lonicerae caulis(ìÛÔÏÔö) support the prevention of carbunculosis(è¹îÅ).
